About This Course

The course intends give the students a basic understanding of what civil engineering is and how does a civil engineer helps in the basic infratsructure development of the country. This courses also introduces to you the various components of a building, various materials used for construction and other services rendered by a civil enginner. The basic objective of the course is for you to have a basic understanding about other branches of engineering which is quite useful in your life ahead.

This particular course is part A of the course EST120: Basics of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. The first 3 modules of the syllabus are related to this course, the last three belong to basic of mechanical engineering.

Requirements

All students are welcome to attend the course. There is no pre-requisite.

Reshma Prasad

Ms. Reshma Prasad completed her B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT Calicut in 2011. She worked as a Structural Design Engineer in SJC (Satish Jain & Company), a design firm based in Mumbai for 2 years after her B.Tech before pursuing higher education. She completed M.Tech in Structural Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2015. She joined as Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering department, FISAT in 2015. She has handled subjects such as Basics of Civil Engineering, Introduction to Civil Engineering, Introduction to Sustainable Engineering, Disaster Management, Design of Concrete Structures, Quantity Surveying and Valuation, Prestressed Concrete and Advanced Structural Design.
